::: Occupational Health and
Safety Policy :::

Occupational Health and Safety Organisational Policy
Northline is committed to ensuring as
far as is reasonably practicable, that all employees are safe from
injury
and any risk to their health while at work.
The primary activities of the organisation will be the promotion of
an effective general transport, warehousing and distribution service,
while maintaining a position of excellence in the management of occupational
health safety and welfare for all staff. Management of Occupational Health
and safety will be the pro-active prevention of work-related injuries
/ illness and the promotion of safe work practices and procedures.
Northline acknowledges that active co-operation of all employees is
required in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. Consequently,
Northline management is committed to a consultative approach with OH&S
where all people within the company have a responsibility for their own
and other employee's health and safety at the work place. Specific roles
and responsibility have also been assigned to:
- The Responsible Officer / OH&S Consultant
- Branch Managers
- All employees
The Responsible Officer
A key requirement in achieving excellence in
OH&S for Northline is the commitment and involvement of senior
management. To reflect this commitment, Northline has assigned "responsible
officer(s)" as defined by the Occupational Health, Safety and
Welfare, (NSW Act 2000; Vic Act 1985; SA Act 1986; WA Act 1984) and
Workplace Health and Safety Act (QLD Act 1995; NT Act 1986).
The responsible officer will have an active role in the planning development
and implementation of health and safety policies and programs. Additionally,
the responsible officer will consult with any safety consultant appointed,
and any employee who has OH&S concerns.
Employees' OH&S Responsibilities
In their own interests, and as a legal
obligation, all employees therefore have a responsibility to ensure
that nothing
is done to make health and safety
provisions less effective. In particular they must:
- Take responsible care to protect their own health and safety at
work.
- Use any equipment provided to protect health and safety and follow
reasonable instructions Northline
gives on health and safety.
- Ensure they do not, by the consumption of alcohol, or a drug,
endanger their own safety or the safety
of anyone else.
